Interview with The Founder

Tell us about you.

I'm originally from the UK and made the leap to Sydney back in 2012. Absolutely fell in love with the city and Australia in general. I've always had a bit of a travel bug, which led me to Spain for a few years, working in hospitality. Then, I got into the travel industry and became a holiday rep, jetting around the Mediterranean and Europe. But eventually, I settled in London and found my way into the world of recruitment.

How did you get into recruitment?

It's funny how things work out. After all my adventures, I returned to the UK and actually started as a candidate with a recruitment agency. They must have seen something in me because they offered me a role as a Recruitment Consultant, which I initially hesitated about but ended up loving. That was back in 2007, and I've been in recruitment ever since.

What’s your recruitment background / experience?

Over the years, I've dabbled in a few specialties like Education and Legal recruitment, but my real passion is Office Support. I've had the privilege of working with some great agencies in London and Sydney.

I worked my way up and gained exceptional experience in heading up Office Support divisions, running successful dual desks, coaching, and developing team members, leading, mentoring and managing Office Support teams. I also worked together with clients and candidates to build strong working relationships. I would write monthly Office Support blogs on current market trends and attended quarterly Senior Office Professional networking events.

In 2017, I decided to take the plunge and start my own recruitment consultancy, which has been incredibly rewarding.

What do you love about recruitment?

Lots of things, networking, meeting candidates and clients but I have to say, the best part of the job is giving the candidate the offer.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of telling a candidate they've got the job they've been dreaming of. It's moments like that, and the relationships I get to build along the way, that really make this job special.
